Save the Capital Connection
Electrification of the Wellington rail network up to Waikanae means KiwiRail have to decide whether or not to continue the only commuter rail service between Palmerston North and Wellington.
The decision is at least 12 months away so we have plenty of time to campaign and put together a convincing argument about why it should be retained. click here to follow the Facebook campaign.

Time to End Tobacco Displays
Every year 5000 Kiwis die as a result of smoking cigarettes or other tobacco based products. Tobacco smoking is the biggest single preventable cause of death in New Zealand. That's why over the last 25 years New Zealand has strived not only to help people stop smoking but also to stop people from even taking up smoking in the first place. We've seen a number of changes.Cigarette advertising was banned, as was sponsorship. Then workplaces became smoke free, followed by restaurants, bars and pubs. Each measure has seen a marked reduction in the number of New Zealanders who smoke tobacco. But now that reduction is slowing. It is time to take the next logical step and finish the job started when almost all forms of tobacco advertising were first removed.
A fair deal in hard times
An estimated 80% of working New Zealanders don't have redundancy protections written into their employment agreement. Most of these workers are in non-union worksites and are on individual agreements where there is limited ability to negotiate redundancy protections for themselves.
